Ebullient speaker, Lecturer (Food Business and Development) and Research Fellow at the University College Cork (UCC), Dr. Steven Onakuse will be speaking on "Regionalism: The Challenges of Integration in Nigeria" at the forth coming AIPA Ireland's inaugural Annual Leadership Lecture Series holding on Saturday, 24 September 2016, by 5.00pm at Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.
AIPA Ireland is a think-tank of Nigerian professionals of Anambra State descent, based in the Republic of Ireland, coming from diverse project related backgrounds with the objective of being a platform for trade, investment and cultural exchange between Ireland and Anambra State, Nigeria; identifying and facilitating specific projects that will engender economic growth, alleviate poverty and empower the women, youths and the vulnerable in our society.
With the belief that today's work of governance should not be left only in the hands of the elected; AIPA Ireland believes it is time the electorate themselves begin to take charge of their society and their fate by taking part in the government of the day. AIPA Ireland believes that the general definition of democracy – government by the people – cannot be truly achieved until the people themselves begin to stand up to become the extended arms, eyes, ears, legs and voice of their government.
The aim of this lecture series is AIPA Ireland's way of lending her voice to the call for credible leadership, accountability in governance and total obliteration of tribal, ethnic and religious dividing lines in the country. And to kick off this year's celebration of Nigeria's independence, this inaugural lecture will be held in honour of Nigeria's first civilian president, late Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe, GCFR (Owelle of Onitsha).
The erudite fellow, Dr. Steven Onakuse, amongst other awards, is the receiver of the "Most Outstanding Personality of the Year Award 2015" and the "African Leadership and Excellence Awards" from African Voice, The lecture series, which will be an annual event, will be preceded by the Anambra State Mini-Investment Summit, which is expected to be graced by members of the Anambra State government, the Nigerian high commission in Dublin and a chain of prospective Irish investors..
