The Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokue Dike) has emerged the winner of the maiden Anambra Irish Professionals Association (AIPA) Ireland’s “Onye Anambra” of the Year Award, 2016.
The Onye Anambra award, instituted by Anambra Irish Professionals Association (AIPA) Ireland, is in recognition of Anambra indigenes who distinguish themselves in their various fields of profession; and have directly or indirectly impacted positively on the lives of fellow Ndi Anambra in particular and Nigeria in general.
The award, given to the Governor for his outstanding achievements in the state, was received on his behalf by the Secretary to the State Government, Anambra State, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, supported by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA), Special Works, Chief Emeka Okoye and his wife, Mrs. Maryanne Okoye at the AIPA Ireland’s Annual Leadership Lectures and Economic Summit held on Saturday, 24 September 2016, at the prestigious Carlton Hotel, Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15.
Speaking at the event, which afforded both Irish and other investors the opportunity to learn of various investment opportunities in the State and the government’s favourable policies, Prof. Chukwulobelu thanked members of Anambra Irish Professionals Association (AIPA) Ireland in particular, and all Ndi Anambra in Ireland for award bestowed on the Governor. He said this award, in addition to other awards already won by the Governor, is a true confirmation that “Willie is Working”; and will act as a boost for the governor and members of his government to do more.
Prof. Chukwulobelu and Chief Okoye thanked members of AIPA Ireland, the team of Irish Investors in attendance and other participants for a successful Summit and Lecture series; and said they are already looking forward to the next edition.
